Hummel “Little Fiddler” – Large HUM 2/I A wonderful larger-format example of one of M. Hummel’s classic and beloved designs, Little Fiddler. This beautifully hand-painted Goebel porcelain figurine depicts the young traveling musician absorbed in playing his violin, complete with his distinctive brown hat, warm orange coat, green trousers, shoulder satchel and umbrella carried across his back. At approximately 7½-8 inches tall, this is the desirable larger HUM 2/I version of Little Fiddler-not the considerably smaller examples that are frequently encountered. Published Hummel references identify HUM 2/I as the 7½-8-inch version. The underside bears the Goebel W. Germany factory mark along with impressed mold markings and a hand-applied decorator/artist notation. The original “Little Fiddler” identification label also remains attached to the base. The workmanship is especially attractive, from the delicate facial features and eyelashes to the violin, bow, umbrella and softly shaded clothing.
