The Hummel/Goebel ROCK-A-BYE #574 Large Figurine from the Century Collection by artist Helmut Fischer is a charming and whimsical piece depicting a child in a cradle. Series/Mold: 214 Series (Large Scale). Artistic Credit: Based on the original designs of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. Set Composition (11 Pieces Total). Each figure features the incised facsimile signature of M. Hummel and appropriate mold/factory control numbers. Holy Family: Virgin Mary (214/A), Joseph (214/B), Baby Jesus in Manger (214/A – Infant). The Three Kings: King Gaspar (Standing, 214/L), King Melchior (Kneeling, 214/M), King Balthazar (Moorish, 214/N). Shepherds & Attendants: Standing Shepherd with Sheep (214/F), Little Tooter/Flute Player (214/H), Kneeling Shepherd (214/G). Animals: The Ox (214/J) and The Donkey (214/K). Surface: Light, age-appropriate glaze crazing is present on most figures, consistent with TMK-4 era porcelain. The Ox (214/J): Contains a small glaze flake and a minor nick on the surface. Remaining Figures: The other 10 pieces, including the Donkey and Holy Family, are free of chips, cracks, nicks, or professional restorations. This is adorable figurine is in Excellent Condition – no cracks, chips, repairs or crazing. Please look carefully at all of the photos as they are part of the description. Original box has wear from being stored. Please feel free to message me with any questions. This is one of many from a large collection I inherited from my mom’s estate. She worked at a boutique. Original Goebel Hummel figurine # Hum 51/0 “Village Boy” by Goebel. Crown mark large size. Height about 17 cm (about 6 3/4 inches). TMK 1 “Crown Mark”. The figurine was made between 1936 and 1949. It has under the base an incised TMK 1 “Crown Mark”. Since there are no other stamps, it was most likely made before 1945. This figurine was originally modeled by master sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1936. It was made in several sizes. The figurine has light crazing. In the last picture I added to compare the size the small version 50/3/0 (about 4 inches). The figurine is well kept and in excellent condition with no damage, chips, repairs or the likes.
