Rare Goebel Hummel #16’Little Hiker’ Figurine TMK-1 Crown Mark? Excellent

This early Hummel #16’Little Hiker’ figurine is beautifully painted and in perfect condition for its age! The’M I Hummel’ signature is impressed in the base. The Stamped Crown mark (TMK-1) shows it was made in Germany by Goebel between 1935 and 1949. The incised product number 16 is not very clear; see pix. This Hummel (5.5 inches) has been carefully kept and is in excellent condition with no repairs, chips, cracks, or crazing. ABOUT HUMMELS. Hummels are the result of a partnership between Sister Maria Innocentina Hummel, Franz Goebel and The Convent of the Siessen in the 1930’s. The sketch art of Sister Maria Innocentia began to appear on in the 1930s in Germany and Switzerland, mostly pastoral drawings of children. Around 1934 porcelain maker Franz Goebel saw the drawings and thought they could be turned into porcelain figurines. The agreement with Goebel was that the sister would have final approval over every figurine and that it would be incised with her signature. To this day, each Hummel must be approved by the Convent of Siessen. These figures became extremely popular in the U. Especially with German immigrants on the East Coast. The popularity of the Hummel continued to grow around the end of World War II when many American soldiers overseas saw the Hummel as a great gift to send home to their mothers and sweethearts.

Hummel # 21/0 “Heavenly Angel” – 4.25 Tall – Double Crown TMK-1+1 – Vibrant Glossy Colors! – Master Painter Signed – Stamped “Germany” – Closed Edition – RARE EXAMPLE in Impeccable Condition! HUM 21/0 – Heavenly Angel – TMK-1+1. Height – 4.25. This hummel was originally modeled by Master Sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1935. The old names of this hummel are “Celestial Messenger” or “Little Guardian” in older catalogs. There were several sizes produced over the years, including one with a “1/2″ size designator, the first of two hummels produced with that designator. Heavenly Angel is the motif used on the first Annual Plate in 1971, Hummel number 264. It was also used as a “tree topper” in 1994, Hummel number 755. This particular hummel for sale has not one, but Two Crown Markings! (One incised, One Stamped) The colors on this hummel are vibrant and glossy! It does not look 85 years old, but it is! It is also signed by the Master Painter on the base. This hummel is a closed edition. Rare Example in Impeccable Condition! Has “&####128081;” Crown Marking (TMK-1) stamped in Dark Green or Black (Difficult to distinguish which color) on underside of base. Has “&####128081;” Crown Marking (TMK-1) incised on underside of base. Incised Hummel Number “21/0″ on underside of base and incised M. Hummel signature on rear side of base. Signature is Bold and easily distinguishable. Stamped “Germany” in Black on underside of base. Hummel stands at 4.25 high, the mid-range height listed in the catalogs. Vibrant Glossy Colors! It doesn’t look 85 years old at all! Hummel is in Excellent condition for it’s age! May have a tiny amount of dust from sitting in the China Cabinet for several decades. I certainly did not want to damage it inadvertently by cleaning it. Although, as you can see in the pictures, it doesn’t appear to need cleaning anyway. Message me for more details/options. Additionally, the older pieces have shorter pigtails and also differences in the ribbon. This listing is the oldest version from the 1930s with the crown marking. Has Crown Marking (TMK-1) stamped on underside of base. With 13/0 incised also with a number 98 and some other black markings that could be signatures but they are hard to read. HUMMEL GOEBEL 150 TMK-1 Crown Mark HAPPY DAYS Boy & Girl with Guitar & Mandolin

GOEBEL HUMMEL Figurine #150 HAPPY DAYS – TMK-1 Crown Mark. Hummel figurine #150 HAPPY DAYS made by Goebel from designs by Sister M. Hummel (Maria Innocentia Hummel), hand-crafted and hand-painted. The figurine also bears the printed mark U. The figurine shows a little girl in a long yellow dress playing her guitar next to a little boy with a jacket and blue striped pants playing his mandolin lute? Each is singing along with music. The girl is standing atop a small grassy mound making her appear taller than the boy, but they are nearly the same size. Just over 6 inches (15 cm) high and 5 inches (12.5 cm) wide. (no chips, cracks, repairs or other significant defects). There is some very minor crazing to the base. I have given this a preliminary cleaning to get rid of the worst of the dust, but you may want to clean it further. Check out my other items. Be sure to add me to your favorites list.
