Offered here is a rare complete set of four Goebel M. Hummel Joyous News angel candleholders, mold numbers 38, 39, and 40, with one duplicate, all bearing the U. Zone Germany stamp dating these to 1946 to 1949. Finding even the standard trio together is uncommon. Finding four is exceptional. Each figure is a small seated angel playing a different instrument. HUM 38 plays the lute in a blue robe, HUM 40 plays the horn in an orange robe, HUM 39 plays the accordion in a green robe, and a second HUM 38 lute player completes the group. Each has the characteristic small candle cup at the base. Hand painted with original vivid colors throughout. Three of the four pieces are in excellent condition with bold stamping and clear incisions of model numbers. The accordion figure, HUM 39, has what appears to be a stress crack near the candle cup base, stable. Mold numbers are incised on each piece.
