Hummel “Little Fiddler” – Large HUM 2/I A wonderful larger-format example of one of M. Hummel’s classic and beloved designs, Little Fiddler. This beautifully hand-painted Goebel porcelain figurine depicts the young traveling musician absorbed in playing his violin, complete with his distinctive brown hat, warm orange coat, green trousers, shoulder satchel and umbrella carried across his back. At approximately 7½-8 inches tall, this is the desirable larger HUM 2/I version of Little Fiddler-not the considerably smaller examples that are frequently encountered. Published Hummel references identify HUM 2/I as the 7½-8-inch version. The underside bears the Goebel W. Germany factory mark along with impressed mold markings and a hand-applied decorator/artist notation. The original “Little Fiddler” identification label also remains attached to the base. The workmanship is especially attractive, from the delicate facial features and eyelashes to the violin, bow, umbrella and softly shaded clothing. Condition: Based on the photographs provided, the figurine presents beautifully. If your physical inspection confirms it, state: No chips, cracks or repairs. Up for sale is an authentic vintage M. Hummel “School Boys” (Difficult Problem) porcelain figurine, model #170/I. This is the rarer, larger-scale size variant standing at approximately 7.5 inches tall. The base features the incised model number 170/I and the stamped blue TMK-4 (Three Line Mark), dating its production between 1964 and 1972 by Goebel in West Germany. The authentic incised M. Hummel signature is visible on the base rim. Condition: Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Features standard, light age-appropriate crazing in the clear glaze, primarily on the underside of the base. The paint and molded details on the chalkboard and boys’ clothing are remarkably crisp and vibrant. Please see photos for exact condition and ask for more if needed.

Original large-sized Goebel / Hummel Nativity Set #214, marked West Germany and dated to 1951. This is the highly sought-after early production version with the classic matte glaze and hand-painted detail that made these sets famous among collectors. This is the larger scale version, not the smaller later sets. Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, Three Kings, Shepherd, Angel, Donkey, Ox, and additional figures as shown. This is a beautiful vintage set with honest age and collector-typical wear. Donkey has flaws to the ears (see photos). Fine crazing present under the glaze on several pieces, consistent with age and early production Goebel porcelain. Angel appears to be from a slightly different production year but matches the set well in style. No cracks or repairs observed outside of the donkeys ears. Paint and details remain vibrant and display beautifully. Crazing is common and expected in early 1950s Goebel porcelain and does not detract from display or collector value. These early #214 sets are becoming harder to find in complete groupings, especially the large format.
