Goebel Stamp – Vibrant Colors with some Gloss – No 1948 Incised Date! (Pre-dates Most Full Bees) – Closed Edition. Height – Just over 5. Originally modeled by Master Sculptor Reinhold Unger in 1948, at the end of the Crown TMK-1 era. This makes it very difficult to find this hummel with a Crown marking since the Full Bee era begins in 1950. WG next to the Hummel signature, signifying approximately 1950, one of the earlier versions. There have been many variations between older and newer models; with older pieces slightly larger and variations in color on the dog and camera. This hummel was restyled many times through the years. Since the hummel in this listing is an older version, there is no date incised on the base. Extremely difficult to find, especially in this condition! For all of the Dachshund owners and Box Camera owners, this is would make a great addition to your collection! There is also a Hummel Greeting Card produced with this hummel image: The greeting card from ARS SACRA shows this Hummel figurine known as “fotograf” and is listed as card number 1654. Please note that the greeting card is not included with the sale. It is shown as a reference. See below for the specifications. Has “&####128029;” Full Bee (TMK-2) stamped in Blue on underside of base. WG incised next to Hummel Signature on Top Left side of the base. Incised Hummel Number “178” and Factory Control Number “38” on underside of base. Hummel on Top Left Side of base with Early WG following. Stamped “Germany” in black on underside of base. Goebel in Blue on underside of base. Hummel stands at mid-range of height listed in the catalogs, standing at a little over 5 high. (Catalog Lists 4.75″-5.25″). Stamped “O” on underside of base, presumably by Master Painter Gernot Bub, as per mihummel. Org. Colors are Vibrant and do retain some Gloss! Hummel is in Excellent condition considering it’s age. It was sitting in the China Cabinet for decades and may have some dust. I certainly did not want to damage it inadvertently by cleaning it. There are two minuscule paint flakes, not chips, on the bottom of the boy’s right shoe. Message me for more details/options. Feel free to contact me to inquire about other hummels you are looking for, as I have hundreds yet to list. All efforts were made to accurately describe this item. Since everyone has their own interpretation of condition and assessment of details, Please refer to pictures for exact condition and details of hummel. Additional pictures are available upon request. They all come from my mother’s estate. My mother was the President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Hummel Club during the 1980s and collected Hummel figurines for approximately 50 years. Many early, rare variations, club exclusives, special editions and other very unique hummels to come. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns and/or comments.
